We look forward to an exciting and engaging selection process to hire Resident Assistants and Residential Peer Mentors for the 2025-2026 academic year. Resident Assistant Selection Information

RAs are vital members of the Student Life staff.  Each community has an RA to ensure we create positive, healthy communities where students can live, learn, and grow.  RA selection is an in-depth process to ensure we hire the best RAs we can; through our selection process, we aim to hire students who will commit themselves to their communities, to their residents, and to our University.   Please view our online RA Position Description to learn more about the position.

RA Selection Timeline

  • Thurs. Jan. 16, 5pm: RA/RPM Info Session in LRC 322
  • Thurs. Jan. 16: Applications available online here
  • Wed. Feb. 12: Applications and references due by 5pm
  • Mon. Feb. 17, 8-9:30pm: Required Group Interview. All applicants must attend.
  • Feb. 24 – 27: Individual Interviews 
  • T ues. March 4: Hiring Notifications

RA Application Information

  • The application must be completed in one sitting. Please make sure your are prepared with your essay answers and your resume.
  • Two References are required. The references must be submitted by 5pm on Wed. Feb. 12.

    • One reference must be a WVU Tech faculty/staff member (Residence Life staff can not be references)
    • The second reference can be of your choosing, such as a former teacher, coach, church member, or a different WVU Tech faculty/staff member.
  • Resume Required. You will attach your resume as part of our application.

  • Two Short Essays Required (500 words or less each). Write your answers in a Word document and upload as a Word document/PDF to our online application
    • Essay One: The goal of Resident Assistants is to know their residents "by name and story." What does this mean to you? How does this goal help create positive, healthy communities where students can live, learn, and grow?
    • Essay Two: Why do you want to be a Resident Assistant? What strengths would you bring to the Resident Assistant team?

Residential Peer Mentor Selection Information

An RPM serves as an important academic resource by providing tutoring, mentoring, and academic activities in their assigned residential building. We seek students who are passionate about academic success and passionate about helping their peers succeed. To learn more about the position, view our online RPM Position Description.

RPM Application Information

  • One WVU Tech Academic Reference Required. This should be a faculty/staff member at Tech who can evaluate and comment on your academic ability.
  • Resume Required. You will attach your resume as part of our application.
