Resident Assistant Selection Information

RAs are vital members of the Student Life staff.  Each community has an RA to ensure we create positive, healthy communities where students can live, learn, and grow.  RA selection is an in-depth process to ensure we hire the best RAs we can; through our selection process, we aim to hire students who will commit themselves to their communities, to their residents, and to our University.  Please view our online RA Position Agreement  to learn more about the position.

RA Selection Timeline
  • Jan. 20: Application available
  • Jan. 20 (6:30pm): RA and RPM Selection Information Session, LRC322
  • Feb. 12 (midnight): RA Applications and References Due
  • Feb. 17 (8-9:30pm): Required Group Interview
  • Feb. 19-24: Individual Interviews
  • March 4: Hiring Notifications
RA Application & Selection Information
  • Applications are submitted online. Applications must be completed in one sitting
  • Applications require the following 2 essay questions -- no more than 500 words per essay. Please upload one PDF with answers to both questions to your application.
    • Why do you want to be a Resident Assistant? What strengths would you bring to the Resident Assistant team? 
    • The goal of Resident Assistants is to know their residents "by name and story." What does this mean to you? How does this goal help create positive, healthy communities where students can live, learn, and grow?
  • Applicants must upload a PDF their most recent resume to the application. If you do not have a resume, see the Career Center as soon as possible for assistance.
  • Applicants must submit 2 references, due Feb. 12 at midnight. 
  • All applicants must attend the required group interview on Feb. 17 at 8pm. In addition, all applicants will have an interview scheduled between Feb. 19-24.

Residential Peer Mentor Selection Information

An RPM serves as an important academic resource by providing tutoring, mentoring, and academic activities in their assigned residential building. We seek students who are passionate about academic success and passionate about helping their peers succeed. To learn more about the position, view our online RPM Position Agreement.

  • March 6 (midnight): RPM applications and reference due

    • Why are you interested in the Residential Peer Mentor position?  
    • How can an RPM help students succeed academically at Tech? How would you work to ensure the RPM helps our residents?
  • Applicants must upload a PDF their most recent resume to the application. If you do not have a resume, see the Career Center as soon as possible for assistance.
  • Applicants must submit 1 academic reference, due March 6 at midnight.
