How to Apply for Housing

You must be an admitted student of WVU Tech before you can apply for housing.

  1. If you have not yet activated your WVU account, go to login.wvu.edu  and follow the instructions to activate your WVUD. (This will become your username and password to log into all WVU systems.)
  2. Complete the Spring Only 2026 housing application here starting Oct. 20, 2025. This contract is for the Spring 2026 Semester and is for students new to housing only.
  3. Pay the $225 housing advanced payment in the application and finish all sections of the application. Remember, this payment will be credited to your Spring 2026 tuition bill.
  4. Starting Dec. 1, all paid applications will be placed in housing, based on the housing preferences listed on their application. Assignments will continue to be made, based on the date the paid application is received.
  5. If you decide not to attend WVU Tech and need to cancel your housing application , please email Student Life at techstudentlife@mail.wvu.edu . If you cancel your housing application after Jan. 1, your advanced payment is forfeited.
Housing Accommodations

Students seeking housing accommodations or with accessibility questions can obtain support through the Office of Student Accommodations.

Housing Residency Requirement

All full-time students with fewer than 59 earned credit hours (including transfer credits) are required to live in University housing. Students with fewer than 59 credit hours can apply for an exemption from the residency requirement if any of the following apply:

  • Student will be residing with custodial parent(s)/guardian(s) within a commuting distance of 50 miles of WVU Tech
  • Student is married
  • Student with children living with them
  • Student will be 21 years of age or older by the first day of the fall semester

Students interested in an exemption to the residency requirement should complete the  online housing application and select the exemption request option. Your application and verification documentation will be reviewed and a decision will be made on a case-by-case basis.
