Break Information

All residence halls close over Spring Break. Students must vacate their housing assignment by  noon Sat. March 14, 2026. Halls reopen at  8am Sun. March 22, 2026. Housing over break is available by online request for $25 per night. Requests are due by Tues. March 3 (5pm), requests received after this date will incur a $25 late request fee and be subject to late application approval. Note: Athletes staying for approved sports do not need to apply; coaches will do this.

Before leaving for break, students must complete the break checklist posted on their doors. All rooms will be entered to check for policy violations, for health and safety checks, to ensure the checklist has been completed, and to complete routine maintenance. Fines will be issued for noncompliance and violations will be noted. Checklists must remain posted on doors.

Airport and Train Station Shuttles

University shuttles to/from the Charleston Yeager airport, the Prince (Beckley) train station, and Beckley airport are available. To see dates and request a shuttle, complete our online request (coming soon) by Tues. March 3, 5pm.

Winter Break Checklist

• Remove all perishable food items
  
• Take all trash to dumpsters
• Clean your room/suite and bathroom
• Shut/lock windows and close blinds
• Unplug all electric items except your microfridge
• Set thermostat to Heat 62 degrees, auto fan
• Sign the checklist on your door, leave checklist on your door
• Lock your door, take your keys and ID with you
