Residence Hall Frequently Asked Questions

How do I apply for housing?

Once you have been accepted to WVU Tech and receive your MIX username and password, please go to MyHousing.wvu.edu. You will be required to pay a $225 housing deposit to reserve your room. If you are unable to pay the deposit please contact the Student Life office at 304-929-1232 to ask about a waiver.

The housing application/contract is a legally binding contract committing you to live in on-campus housing for the entire academic year.

When are housing deposits due?

There is no deadline for the $225 housing deposit. However, assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis, so it is important to complete the application/contract early. You deposit is credited to your upcoming term's tuition and fees*.

* Tuition and fees are usually not the only educational expenses you may have while pursuing a degree. You may have other costs such as books, supplies and living expenses. Please see the Estimate Costs and Aid webpage for how to estimate and plan for other potential expenses.

Will I get my deposit back if I do not attend WVU Tech?

If you are not planning on attending WVU Tech, we will refund the full $225 housing deposit if we receive written notification by July 1 (December 1 for Spring Only term). After this date, deposits are nonrefundable. Applications/contracts can be cancelled if you are not attending WVU Tech by notifying us via your MIX email account to TechStudentLife@mail.wvu.edu. A staff member will follow up with an email when the contract cancellation has been processed.

Can I change rooms?

There is a two-week room freeze at the beginning of both the fall and spring semesters. During this time, there can be no room or roommate changes. If you are interested in moving to a different room, please see your Resident Director.
